Every skill you learn earns you a hand-embroidered patch. Not a digital badge or a screenshot — actual thread and fabric that tells the story of what you've done.

Your patches become your Camp Flag — a growing tapestry of everything you've learned, made, and mastered. It's your story, sewn one skill at a time.

Our Foundational Patches mark the ten core skills we think every Folksy Scout should know — from Nature Appreciation to Handwork to Homesteading. These are the classics, the keepers, the ones that never go out of season.

Then there are the monthly patches — the seasonal, the fleeting, the ones that mark a moment in time. These patches celebrate what’s happening right now: the first frost, the return of the light, the hum of summer, the quiet work of early spring. Some will tuck themselves into our archive so you can complete them whenever the season calls you back… while others will disappear like fireflies, limited-edition treasures for those who were here to catch them.

Because around here, a patch isn't a prize. It's a memory stitched in thread, a skill you'll carry forever, and proof that you showed up and did the thing.

Here’s how to get started:

1. Join Our Digital Campfire
Step into our online community space — this is where Scouts of all ages gather, share photos, ask questions, and cheer each other on. It’s our virtual fire circle, always glowing, always open. Inside, you'll find introductory videos complete with how-to's and the happenings. 

2. Introduce Yourself & Earn Your First Patch (Your first patch, the official Folksy Scouts patch, is yours just for joining and introducing yourself!)

3. Choose Your First Adventure. Do you want to dig into a Foundation and start building core skills or do you want to jump in with the Special Patch of the Month? There is always something new to dive into. 

4. Gather your supplies or visit our shop to purchase a kit to make earning patches even easier!

5. Complete, Share, & Celebrate
